Ratings This is Hard Sleeve Baseball’s standard baseball card rating system. Batters and pitchers are rated by calculating their statistics with the batting and pitching formulas below. Pitchers can have pitching and batting ratings, and are given a default batting rating of 1.0 unless the card has batting statistics to rate from. Ratings are rounded to the nearest tenth, with a minimum rating of 1.0 and maximum rating of 5.0. Cards with surface degradation incur a -.1 to -1 point penalty depending on severity. Cards with visibly dinged corners incur a -.1 point penalty per dinged corner. Small rips incur -1 full point rating reduction. Cards completely torn are ineligible.
